WOCOM-UEW yesterday held a successful 2020  Women in Leadership Conference on 14th February at University of Education, Winneba Central Campus Auditorium. As all participants and dignitaries were seated around  10:00am, the  program started with opening prayer which was said by the  University Chaplain.

Introduction of chairperson (Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful Broni PhD) was done by Hawa Alidu (Hajia Cruz), UEW Women Commissioner. Priscilla Akwagu introduces the Keynote Speaker( Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang) for the program. Our workaholic visionary Vice Chancellor, Very, Rev Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful Broni PhD accepted to be the Chair for the event, and welcome everyone either a Woman or man who schedules their important duration to attend the program and also congratulate the WOCOM for such wonderful and amazing program.

Women in Leadership was one of the important topic delivered and was taught by the Pro. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori Birikorang. He started by a quote said by Aristotle "He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander". He highlighted on some of the things a leader should have such as courageous, vision, inspiring, always stand by the truth among other things.

He also mention 8 qualities of 21st Century Women in Leadership and these are ; Subservient, Semi-literate, Dependent, Deferent(inferior to men), Highly immobile, Tolerant of harassment, Politically native and Very religious. Also he said something about Opportunities and Way Forward in Women in Student Leadership.

These are some of the things He outlined; Women leaders need power, Be generous( offer your time, talent and treasure), Be self driven, Be a strong story teller, Don't wait around; resist male hegemonic, Be resilient and assertive, Change your identity, Take on political identities, Gain technological knowledge,   Challenge, if it doesn't serve the interest of a women and Develop a critical perspective.
