All African Student Union Observe World Cancer day in Accra.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of a group of cells in the body. It can occur at any age and if not detected at the right time and is not treated, it can increase the risk of death.

 Hence, to raise the awareness of cancer and encourage its prevention, World Cancer Day is observed annually on February 4 as an international event. The theme for World Cancer Day 2020 is "I Am and I Will," to acknowledge that everyone has the capacity to act in the face of cancer.

This year edition held at University of Professional studies Accra (UPSA) saw hundreds of students from several tertiary institutions like UEW, Legon, Wisconsin University,UPSA among others came together to raise awareness against the deadly disease on the 4th February, 2020 an initiative by All African Student Union of Ghana (AASU).

This day is said to be World Cancer Day, which aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer, pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.

These year gathering at UPSA saw leaders from various tertiary institutions among them were Beverly Benewa Appiah (Wocom UPSA), Ambassador Hajia Mohammed (Wocom UEW), Angel Warira Mbuthia (Sec. Gender and International Relation), and Mr. Peter Kwasi Kodjie (Secretary General AASU) and others.

Speakers for the day were Benedicta Blankie Nartey (CEO, Benekie Foundation) who spoke on the topic "Role of student and youth in preventing skin Bleaching, Appiasah Graham (Reprocan Ghana) spoke on "Skin cancer;causes,effects,prevention and Toning/bleaching body cream", in conclusion was Ama K.Abrebase the guest speaker (Campaigner against skin bleaching) gave education against skin bleaching and skin toning where she edge individuals to desist from the use of creams that contains poisonous chemicals that can cause harm to our body and prefered the use of locally made creams to Prevent the disease.
